Leadership Competence for the AI Era
Leadership is more than just authority—it is the ability to motivate people, help them realize their potential, and steer organizations in a shared direction. In a workplace that is undergoing fundamental transformation due to digitalization and artificial intelligence, leaders face both new challenges and opportunities.
This two-day course combines the latest research findings on leadership behavior, personality, and communication with concrete tools for everyday leadership and provides practical insights into how AI-supported processes will shape the leadership of tomorrow.
Experience scientifically grounded content, intensive reflection sessions, and application-oriented exercises in a small, interactive learning group.
Course Content
- Fundamentals of Leadership: Definition, Significance, and Methods of Empirical Leadership Research
- Leadership Traits I: The Big Five Model of Personality, Personality Tests, and Reflection
- Leadership Traits II: Growth Mindset, Self-Efficacy, Self-Regulation, Locus of Control, Time Management, including practical exercises
- Communication in Leadership Roles: The Yale Model, Cialdini’s Principles of Persuasion, Role-Plays
Learning Goals
- You will be familiar with the most important leadership styles and behaviors and understand their effects under different conditions.
- You will understand how “empowering leadership” and visionary leadership motivate people in the long term and what individual differences must be taken into account.
- You will be able to assess how performance and job satisfaction can be simultaneously enhanced through targeted leadership actions.
- You will have reflected on your own personality and leadership style using established models (including the Big Five) and will identify specific areas for development.
- You have mastered fundamental communication principles for leadership situations and can apply them directly in practice.
- You know how AI applications are transforming leadership processes and have gained initial practical experience with the use of AI in leadership contexts.

Instructors
Prof. Dr. Eric Kearney has been a Professor at the University of Potsdam since 2014. Previously, he was Professor of Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management at the Faculty of Economics and Management at Leibniz University Hannover from 2009 to 2014. He has taught at numerous German and international universities and business schools (including Freie Universität Berlin; Technische Universität Berlin; Humboldt-Universität Berlin; Universidad Autónoma de Madrid; Krannert School of Management / Purdue University; Central European University, Budapest; FGV, Rio de Janeiro; Universidad de Chile, Santiago de Chile; Tongji University, Shanghai).
His research on leadership and team management has been published in leading international journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, and the Journal of Applied Psychology. For many years, he has advised companies and executives on leadership, motivation, and teamwork.
