The TU Berlin Academy for Professional Education offers excellent continuing education with access to cutting-edge research at the renowned Technical University of Berlin. Our fee-based programs, offered in German and English, are designed for professionals and college graduates around the world who wish to prepare themselves for future challenges.

Technical University of Berlin
The Technical University of Berlin is a long-established and globally recognized research university. Under the motto “We have the ideas for the future. For the benefit of society,” TU Berlin offers diverse and forward-looking programs to approximately 35,000 students across seven faculties, with nearly 400 professors and visiting professors, over 100 degree programs, numerous institutes, collaborative partnerships, and clusters of excellence.
The university’s members are committed to sustainable development for future generations. Research and teaching are inextricably linked. Through innovative, technology-oriented, and holistic approaches, TU Berlin contributes to shaping the future. Since 2019, TU Berlin has been designated a University of Excellence. Together with Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, it forms the Berlin University Alliance, a network of excellence. The alliance’s goal is to transcend the boundaries between disciplines and institutes in order to develop a scientific “ecosystem” in “Brain City Berlin.” To create an integrated research space, the four partners promote cooperation not only among themselves but also with other universities, non-university research institutions, museums, civic and political organizations, startups, and industry partners. The educational leave program provides you with the flexibility you need to pursue your professional development. Take advantage of the academic environment at TU Berlin to expand your technological expertise, hone your management skills, or learn new methods. With us, you can directly apply research to your everyday professional life.
As an employee, you are generally entitled to 5 days of educational leave per year, or 10 days over a 2-year period.
How Your Educational Leave Works
The regulations governing educational leave (called Bildungszeit, Bildungsurlaub or Bildungsfreistellung) are set by the federal states. Your entitlement is determined by your employer’s location, not your place of residence.
The continuing education program you choose must be recognized as educational leave in the respective federal state. Your employer grants you leave for the duration of the course with continued pay but is not obligated to cover the course fees.
The TU Berlin Academy supports you in selecting the right course. We provide you with the necessary documents and letters of recognition for your company so that you can easily organize your educational leave.
